A RESOLUTION concerning

Charter Revision Commission

FOR the purpose of appointing a Commission to make a comprehensive study of the government of the City; and all matters relating to said Commission.

WHEREAS, Article IX, Section 10 of the Charter of the City of Annapolis provides that "[i]n January following the year in which the decennial census of the population of the United States is conducted, the City Council by resolution shall appoint a Commission for the purpose of making a comprehensive study of the government of the City"; and

WHEREAS, Article IX, Section 10 of the Charter of the City of Annapolis also provides that "[t]he Commission shall be composed of at least five but no more than nine residents of the City; and

WHEREAS, the Charter Revision Commission is required to submit its findings and recommendations with drafts of revisions to the Annapolis Charter and the City Code no later than six months after its appointment; and

WHEREAS, any standing committee to which the Commission's report is referred shall act upon the report in full within six months of the date upon which the report is submitted to the City Council; and

WHEREAS, the last Charter Revision Commission was appointed in 2011 and published its report and recommendations on November 28, 2011.

NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE ANNAPOLIS CITY COUNCIL that the City of Annapolis Charter Revision Commission is hereby appointed.

AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE ANNAPOLIS CITY COUNCIL that in support of those purposes:
