A RESOLUTION concerning

Condemning the Attack on the U.S. Capitol Building and our Democracy

FOR the purpose of condemning the violent attempt on January 6, 2021, to overturn a free and fair election by do-mestic terrorists at the urging of President Donald Trump; condemning the unsubstantiated al-legations of President Donald Trump and other political figures that incited the riot which led to the death of five people, including Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick; offering our condo-lences to the family of Officer Sicknick; proclaiming that our democracy is resilient to such violent acts of domestic terrorism.

WHEREAS, the January 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol Building is unprecedented and resulted in the terrorizing of our senators, congressional representatives and staff persons, the theft of personal possessions, and the desecration of our symbol of democracy; and

WHEREAS, five people were killed as a result of the attack, including Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick; and

WHEREAS, Joseph Biden was the winner of the 2020 presidential election; and

WHEREAS, the peaceful transition of power after a free and fair election is essentia...
