AN ORDINANCE concerning
Annapolis City Manager's Direct Reports
For the purpose of of updating the City Manager's responsibilities to align with recent changes made by the City Council by moving the City Manager's supervisory duties from the City Charter to the City Code; and adding the deputy city manager for administration as a direct report to the City Manager.
BY repealing and reenacting with amendments the following portions of the Code of the City of Annapolis, 2025 Edition: 2.12.030
SECTION I: BE IT ESTABLISHED AND ORDAINED BY THE ANNAPOLIS CITY COUNCIL that the Code of the City of Annapolis shall be amended to read as follows:
City Code Title 2 - ADMINISTRATION
Chapter 2.12 - Mayor
Section 2.12.030 - City Manager.
The City Manager shall meet the qualifications and have the duties set forth in the Charter.
A. The City Manager meet the qualifications and have the duties set forth in Article IV of the City Charter.
B. Supervision.
1. The City Manager shall report to the mayor.
2. The City Manager shall supervise:
a. The deputy city manager for administration,
b. The deputy city manager for resilience and sustainability, and
c. Department directors pursuant to the organizational chart prepared by the mayor and approved by the City Council.
SECTION II: AND BE IT FURTHER ESTABLISHED AND ORDAINED BY THE ANNAPOLIS CITY COUNCIL that this ordinance shall take effect when Charter Amendment 2-25 takes effect per CA-2-25, Section IV.
