A RESOLUTION concerning
The Approval of a Community Legacy and/or a Strategic Demolition and Smart Growth Impact Fund Application (Bowman Building)
FOR the purpose of approving the application and receipt of financing for Community Legacy Projects and/or Strategic Demolition and Smart Growth Impact Fund projects in the City of Annapolis for the Bowman Building Redevelopment, to be financed either directly by the Department of Housing and Community Development (the Department) of the State of Maryland, or through other departments or agencies of the State of Maryland.
WHEREAS, the City of Annapolis recognizes that there is a significant need for reinvestment in and revitalization of communities in the City of Annapolis; and
WHEREAS, the Department, either through the Community Legacy Program, the Strategic Demolition and Smart Growth Impact Fund or through other Programs of the Department, or in cooperation with other State departments or agencies, may provide some or all of the financing for the Bowman Building redevelopment in order to assist in making it financially feasible; and
WHEREAS, the Sustainable Community is located within a priority funding area under Section 5-7B-02 of the Smart Growth Act and the completed Project will conform to the local zoning code; and
WHEREAS, the applicable laws and regulations require Annapolis City Council approval of the Community Legacy Projects for the Bowman Building Redevelopment Project financing.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE ANNAPOLIS CITY COUNCIL that the City of Annapolis hereby endorses the Bowman Building Redevelopment project and hereby approves this request in the form of a grant, for approximately $500,000 of Community Legacy funds and $500,000 of Strategic Demolition and Smart Growth Impact Funds.
AND, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE ANNAPOLIS CITY COUNCIL that the City Clerk shall send copies of this Resolution to the Secretary of Housing and Community Development of the State of Maryland.
