AN ORDINANCE concerning
City Council Nominations to Boards, Commissions, and Committees
FOR the purpose of authorizing the members of the City Council to nominate members to boards, commissions, and committees if the position has been vacant, or expired and filled temporarily for more than six months; and generally related to City Council duties.
BY enacting with amendments the following portions of the Code of the City of Annapolis, 2024 Edition
2.16.220
SECTION I: BE IT ESTABLISHED AND ORDAINED BY THE ANNAPOLIS CITY COUNCIL that the Code of the City of Annapolis shall be amended to read as follows:
Title 2 - ADMINISTRATION
Chapter 2.16 - City Council
Article II - Generally
Section 2.16.220 - Board, Commission, and Committee Nominations
A. While the Mayor has the primary authority to make appointments, City Council members may individually nominate candidates for boards, commissions, and committees to fill positions:
1. Vacant longer than six months; or
2. Expired and filled with an acting member for longer than six months.
B. The nomination shall be for review and consent through a vote of the full Council:
1. Offered via resolution on First Reader; and
2. Confirmed by the City Council following the Second Reader of the resolution.
SECTION II: AND BE IT FURTHER ESTABLISHED AND ORDAINED BY THE ANNAPOLIS CITY COUNCIL that this ordinance shall take effect upon passage.
