A RESOLUTION concerning
Honoring Brian Woodward's Service to the City of Annapolis
FOR      the purpose of honoring Brian Woodward's distinguished service to the City of Annapolis.
 
WHEREAS,      Brian Woodward was confirmed by City Council as the Recreation and Parks Director on June 18, 2012; and
 
WHEREAS,      in his 16 months as Director of the Annapolis Recreation & Parks Department, Mr. Woodward demonstrated outstanding leadership and fiscal management; and
 
WHEREAS,      some of his many achievements include the following:
·      Restructured the Operating Budget in order to foster accountability of managers,
·      Increase transparency of expenses and revenues, and to set goals and objectives for cost-based fees,
·      Reorganized the Department, creating accountable managers, pushed decisions to appropriate levels, aligned budget authority with program responsibility, and fostered career ladders along with experiences for staff to take on increasingly elevated responsibilities,
·      Created a customer service orientation among all staff by requiring quick response times to inquiries and concerns, improved training in customer service and empowering staff to be able to resolve customer issues at the appropriate organizational level; and
 
WHEREAS,      Mr. Woodward was named Acting City Manager on March 26, 2014 and was instrumental in finalizing the budgets by working to improve the communications and involvement of the Alderpersons,
 
WHEREAS,      Mr. Woodward helped solve significant issues in Transportation, partnered with County officials and staff to address the Forest Dive traffic concerns, and maintained a sense of team work with the Department Heads among numerous other achievements; and
 
WHEREAS,      Mr. Woodward dedicated himself and his exceptional talents to the City and its citizens, bringing consistency, dependability and the highest professional standards, both as Recreation and Parks Director and as the Acting City Manager, and will step down on July 30, 2014 to enjoy more time with his family; and
      
WHEREAS,      Mr. Woodward has been a mentor to many, a leader to the City, and an inspiration to all who worked with him.
 
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE ANNAPOLIS CITY COUNCIL that we wish Mr. Woodward fair winds and following seas and much success in his future endeavors.
