AN ORDINANCE concerning
Repealing Fifteen-Minute Parking on Northwest Street
FOR the purpose of repealing the fifteen-minute parking limit on portions of Northwest Street adjacent to the old Post Office.
BY repealing the following portions of the Code of the City of Annapolis, 2014 Edition
Section 12.20.170
WHEREAS, The Annapolis City Council created fifteen-minute parking spaces on a portion of Northwest Street to support the United States Post Office on Church Circle; and
WHEREAS, The downtown branch of the United States Post Office recently moved from Church Circle to 60 West Street; and
WHEREAS, Fifteen-minute metered parking spaces are available adjacent to the Post Office in its new location; and
WHEREAS, The Annapolis City Council finds that dedicated fifteen-minute parking on Northwest Street is no longer necessary; and
WHEREAS, Pursuant to Chapter 12.24 of the Code of the City of Annapolis, the Director of Public Works, with the concurrence of the Mayor and the Alderman of Ward One, intends to establish a metered parking zone on the portion of Northwest Street presently occupied by fifteen-minute parking.
SECTION I: BE IT ESTABLISHED AND ORDAINED BY THE ANNAPOLIS CITY COUNCIL that the Code of the City of Annapolis shall be amended to read as follows:
