A RESOLUTION concerning
Establishment of Council Compensation Commission
FOR the purpose of establishing a Council Compensation Commission to make recommendations to the City Council on the pay and compensation for the Mayor, City Council, and City Manager to be effective for the four year period beginning December 4, 2017; and matters generally relating to said pay and compensation.
WHEREAS, Article II, Section 4(b)(1), of the City Charter requires that "Not later than one (1) year prior to the date of any general municipal election for the election of mayor and aldermen, the city council shall appoint a commission consisting of not less than three (3) nor more than seven (7) residents of the city to review the compensation and allowances to be paid to the mayor and aldermen during the ensuing terms of office"; and
WHEREAS, Article VI, Section 2B(d), of the City Charter states that "The compensation of the city manager shall be fixed by the mayor according to the provisions of an executive pay plan formulated by the Council Compensation Commission and adopted by ordinance.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE ANNAPOLIS CITY COUNCIL that the 2017 Council Compensation Commission is hereby established and its membership shall consist of CAROLL HYNSON, SCOTT MACMULLAN, RICHARD HILLMAN, FRANK PARENT AND FAYE CURRIE.
