A RESOLUTION concerning

Dedication to Michael "Mike" Francis Miron

FOR the purpose of dedicating the Street End Park, 6th Street and Back Creek, Eastport, to the late Michael "Mike" Francis Miron.


WHEREAS, Michael "Mike" Francis Miron was a long time contributor to Eastport, having served as a Board Member of both the Eastport Civic Association and Eastport Business Association; and,

WHEREAS, Mike was named Admiral of Eastport by the Eastport Civic Association; and

WHEREAS, in 1998, Mike helped organize the Maritime Republic of Eastport and was one of the original signers of the Unanimous Declaration of Independence of the Maritime Republic of Eastport, where he served as the Minister of Transportation; and

WHEREAS, Mike served on the Annapolis Planning Commission from 1986-1992, and served as Chair from 1987-89. Under Mike's stewardship, the Planning Commission and the City Council adopted the Inner West Street area MX zoning; the Maritime District; and the new Central West Street Area Neighborhood Conservation District. Additionally, Parks and Paths for People was adopted, and the site Design Plan Review process and Critical Area and Tree Preservation regulations were formulated; and

WHEREAS, Mike was the Director of Economic Development for the City of Annapolis from 2001-2010, during which time Park Place and 1901 West Street were developed and during which time he spearheaded the development of the Arts and Entertainment District along West Street; and,

WHEREAS, Mike was a long time business owner in Eastport, including the Eastport Shell station, where he first met his future...
