A RESOLUTION concerning
Street-end Park on Annapolis Street

FOR the purpose of designating certain City of Annapolis-owned property as a street-end park; naming the street-end park at the northwest end of Annapolis Street on Weems Creek the "Annapolis Street Park"; and generally relating to park amenities.

WHEREAS, The City of Annapolis is steadfast in its commitment to creating accessible green spaces and mini-parks for the public, commonly called street-end parks, and has recently developed the first citywide Equitable Public Water Access Plan;

WHEREAS, The City of Annapolis draft Equitable Public Water Access Plan, an attachment to this resolution, provides recommendations on how to achieve additional public access to the City's waterfront, and it is anticipated that this plan will be presented to the City Council in Spring 2025; and

WHEREAS, Weems Creek provides the least public water access among the City's major creeks, and the draft Equitable Public Water Access Plan recommends the street-end of Annapolis Street be designated "as a small City-managed park with overlook, new signage, seating, and plantings";

WHEREAS, City staff recently initiated a concept design process with neighbors of the proposed park and the surrounding community to gauge interest and gather input on potential park amenities;
