AN ORDINANCE concerning

Exception to the City's Prohibition on Doors or Gates Opening Over Sidewalks

 

FOR                     the purpose of allowing the Director of Public Works to allow exceptions to § 14.20.090 of the City Code dealing with doors or gates opening over sidewalks.

 

BY                     repealing and reenacting with amendments the following portions of the Code of the City of Annapolis, 2025 Edition: 14.20.090

 

SECTION I:                     BE IT ESTABLISHED AND ORDAINED BY THE ANNAPOLIS CITY COUNCIL that the Code of the City of Annapolis shall be amended to read as follows:

City Code Title 14 - STREETS. SIDEWALKS, PUBIC PLACES,

AND SMALL CELL SYSTEMS

Chapter 14.20 - Obstructions

 

Section 14.20.090 Doors or gates opening over sidewalk.

No person shall erect, put or place a door or gate which opens outwardly upon or over the sidewalk on a street, lane or alley. The Director of Public Works may grant exceptions to this section when a door or gate opening over a sidewalk does not pose a hazard.

 

SECTION II: AND BE IT FURTHER ESTABLISHED AND ORDAINED BY THE ANNAPOLIS CITY COUNCIL that this ordinance shall take effect upon passage.
