Maryland Energy Administration Grant Policies

FOR the purpose of adopting policies required by the terms of Maryland Energy Administration Grant 2018-02-420S1 so that the City of Annapolis may receive technical assistance and unmatched funding in the amount of $55,000 to promote energy efficiency and conservation and promote the development of renewable energy resources.

WHEREAS, the Maryland Energy Administration (MEA) administers the Strategic Energy Investment Program set forth in MD. Code Ann., State Government Art., Sections 9-20B-01 et seq.; and

WHEREAS, pursuant to its statutory authority, the MEA established the 2018 Maryland Smart Energy Communities Grant Program ("the Grant") to encourage local Maryland government, including counties and municipalities, to adopt voluntarily formal policies promoting energy efficiency, renewable energy development, and/or reduction of reliance on petroleum as a transportation fuel, and to implement projects to achieve the objectives of such policies; and

WHEREAS, in Fiscal Year 2018, the City of Annapolis applied and was selected for an unmatched grant in the amount of $55,000, subject to complying with all requirements, terms, and conditions of the Maryland Smart Energy Communities Grant Agreement and Grant Program, including the adoption of policies (1) committing the City to energy efficiency and conservation goals; and (2) to committing the City to either promote the development of renewable energ...
