An ORDINANCE concerning

 

Risk Management

 

FOR                     the purpose of providing that the City Council may establish written rules and regulations as necessary in the interest of risk management.

 

BY                     repealing and reenacting adding the following portion of the Code of the City of Annapolis, 2013 Edition

Section 2.48.290 2.48.225.

 

 

SECTION I:                     BE IT ESTABLISHED AND ORDAINED BY THE ANNAPOLIS CITY COUNCIL that the Code of the City of Annapolis shall be amended to read as follows:

 

CHAPTER 2.48, Article IX - Self InsuranceARTICLE VII - Risk Management Committee

 

Section 2.48.225 2.48.290 - Risk Management Responsibilities.

 

                     FOR THE PURPOSES OF THIS SECTION, “RISK MANAGEMENT” MEANS “A PROCESS FOR IDENTIFYING, ASSESSING, AND PRIORITIZING RISKS OF DIFFERENT KINDS, AND DEVELOPING STRATEGIES TO MINIMIZE OR ELIMINATE THE IMPACT OF RISK.”

 

                     The Mayor shall designate a person to have the following risk management responsibilities and duties:

                     A.                     Provide for the investigation and processing of claims;

                     B.                     Review and approve all claims for payment where the amount to be paid does not exceed five thousand dollars;

                     C.                     Obtain administrative, consulting, legal and any other services as appropriate and necessary, subject to the approval of the Self Insurance Fund Committee.

 

                     THE CITY COUNCIL MAY ESTABLISH WRITTEN RULES AND REGULATIONS AS NECESSARY IN THE INTEREST OF RISK MANAGEMENT.  THE CITY COUNCIL MAY APPROVE THE WRITTEN RULES AND REGULATIONS AS RECOMMENDED BY THE RISK MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE."  UPON ADOPTION BY THE CITY COUNCIL, SUCH RULES AND REGULATIONS SHALL HAVE THE FULL FORCE AND EFFECT OF LAW.

 

 

SECTION  II: AND  BE  IT  FURTHER  ESTABLISHED AND  ORDAINED BY THE ANNAPOLIS CITY COUNCIL that this ordinance shall take effect from the date of its passage.
