A RESOLUTION concerning
 
A Request to the Maryland General Assembly
Regarding the Parking Authorities Act
 
FOR      the purpose of respectfully requesting that the Maryland General Assembly amend Section 18-103 of the Local Government Article of the Annotated Code of Maryland so that the Parking Authorities Act shall be applicable to the City of Annapolis.
 
WHEREAS,      Section 18-103 of the Local Government Article of the Annotated Code of Maryland (the "Parking Authorities Act" states that "[t]his subtitle applies only to Baltimore City, Montgomery County, and Prince George's County"; and
 
WHEREAS,      the City of Annapolis seeks authority to establish a Parking Authority consistent with the legislative findings and purposes of Section 18-102 of the Parking Authorities Act; and
 
WHEREAS,      the Mayor and Alderpersons of the City of Annapolis have recommended that the City of Annapolis seek an amendment to Section 18-103 of the Local Government Article of the Annotated Code of Maryland that would permit the City of Annapolis to establish a Parking Authority.
 
 
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE ANNAPOLIS CITY COUNCIL that the City of Annapolis respectfully requests that the Maryland General Assembly amend Section 18-103 of the Local Government Article of the Annotated Code of Maryland to state as follows: "Section 18-103. Scope of subtitle.  "This subtitle applies only to Baltimore City, Montgomery County, and Prince George's County AND THE CITY OF ANNAPOLIS";
 
AND, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE ANNAPOLIS CITY COUNCIL that the City Clerk shall send a copy of this Resolution to the Governor, the Speaker of the House of Delegates, the President of the Senate and the Maryland Municipal League.
