AN ORDINANCE concerning

Environmental Commission Quorum

FOR the purpose of establishing a quorum of the Environmental Commission.

BY repealing and re-enacting with amendments the following portions of the Code of the City of Annapolis, 2013 Edition
Section 2.48.330

WHEREAS, Section 2.48.330 of the Code of the City of Annapolis sets the quorum of the Environmental Commission to be five members of the nine-member Commission; and

WHEREAS, the membership of the Environmental Commission continually has had one or more vacancies; and

WHEREAS, the vacancies, combined with member absenteeism, have caused the Commission difficulty in achieving a quorum for meetings to conduct business; and

WHEREAS, the Environmental Commission has requested that the City Council adjust the necessary quorum.

SECTION I: BE IT ESTABLISHED AND ORDAINED BY THE ANNAPOLIS CITY COUNCIL that the Code of the City of Annapolis shall be amended to read as follows:

Article XI - Environmental Commission
2.48.330 - Environmental Commission established.

There is a commission known as the Environmental Commission.

A. Purposes. The general purposes of the Commission are the conservation and improvement of the natural and health and welfare qualities of the environment, the land, waters, noise and air of the City and environs.
B. Membership.
1. The Commission shall consist of nine members, residents of the City. They shall be appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by a majority vote of the City Council.
