A RESOLUTION concerning

 

Amending Parking Fines

 

FOR                     the purpose of removing a graduated fines structure for repeat violations; adding a multiplier for repeat violations; and matters relating to amending special residential parking district fines imposed for parking violations.

 

WHEREAS,                     The City of Annapolis engaged the services of a Contractor to manage off-street parking within the City on March 1, 2016; and

 

WHEREAS,                     The implementation of Contractor’s services has highlighted discrepancies between parking fines authorized by the Annapolis City Council and prior practices in Parking Enforcement in the City.

 

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE ANNAPOLIS CITY COUNCIL that the FY2017 Fines Schedule is amended as follows:

Violation-Penalty.

Fine is equal to two times the daily maximum garage fee

$70 for second violation in a one year period, $105 for a third violation in a one year period, and $140 for a fourth and fifth violation in a one year.  FINE IS EQUAL TO TWO TIMES THE DAILY MAXIMUM GARAGE FEE  For any violations after the fifth violation in a one-year period, the vehicle may be impounded until all outstanding parking fines are paid.

 

REVISOR’S NOTE-Chapter 12.32 pertains to

Special Residential Parking Districts.

 

 

AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE ANNAPOLIS CITY COUNCIL that this resolution shall take effect upon the date of its passage.
