A RESOLUTION concerning

Michael A. Pristoop, Chief of Police

FOR the purpose of providing a statement of full support for the Annapolis Police Department and, specifically, Michael A. Pristoop, Chief of Police.

WHEREAS, the Annapolis Police Department is dedicated to providing exemplary public safety through professional law enforcement and strong community involvement, with a goal of making the City of Annapolis a safe place to live, work and visit; and

WHEREAS, the Annapolis Police Department is committed to reducing crime and improving community safety; and

WHEREAS, Chief Michael A. Pristoop came to the City in 2008 during a time of very high crime, and by virtue of his professional qualifications, integrity and initiative, and with the support of his staff, the City benefits from all time low rates of crime, accomplished with fewer officers due to budget constraints; and

WHEREAS, during this trying period of turmoil, and because of incidents across the nation, Chief Pristoop has insisted on and implemented programs and training to assure that the City of Annapolis and its Police Department are positioned in an increasingly pre-emptive stance.

NOW THEREFORE

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE ANNAPOLIS CITY COUNCIL that this Resolution is a statement of full support for the Annapolis Police Department and, specifically, Michael A. Pristoop, Chief of Police.

AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE ANNAPOLIS CITY COUNCIL that this resolution shall take effect from the date of its passage.
