AN ORDINANCE concerning

 

TRANSPORTATION NETWORK SERVICE COMPANIES

 

FOR                     the purpose of removing from Section 7.48.610 of the Code of the City of Annapolis the expiration date for imposing an assessment on Transportation Network Service Companies for trips that originate in the City of Annapolis; relocating reference to the fee associated with such trips from Section 7.48.610 to the Fees Schedule; and matters generally relating to imposing said assessment.

 

 

BY                     repealing and reenacting the following portion to the Code of the City of Annapolis, 2016 Edition

                     7.48.610

 

WHEREAS,                      on April 11, 2016, the City Council adopted O-11-16 which authorizes the City to assess a .25 cent fee for each trip generated by a Transportation Network Service company originating in the City of Annapolis; and

 

WHEREAS,                      O-11-16 further provides that the imposition of said fee shall expire on June 30, 2017; and

 

WHEREAS,                      Section 7.48.610 of the Code of Annapolis provides that said fee shall be set forth in the annual fees schedule and is subject to amendment; and

 

WHEREAS,                      R-17-17 is the proposed FY 2018 Fees Schedule which includes the $0.25 fee that shall be assessed for each trip generated by a Transportation Network Service company originating in the City of Annapolis, and

 

WHEREAS,                      Section 7.48.610 of the Code of the City of Annapolis should be amended to remove the aforementioned expiration date and fee in accordance with the adoption of R-17-17. 

 

 

SECTION I:                     BE IT ESTABLISHED AND ORDAINED BY THE ANNAPOLIS CITY COUNCIL that the Code of the City of Annapolis shall be amended to read as follows:

 

Chapter 7.48 - TAXICABS

 

ARTICLE VI - TRANSPORTATION NETWORK SERVICES

 

SECTION 7.48.610 - ASSESSMENT OF FEES.

 

Pursuant to the authority of and subject to the terms of Section 10-406 of the Public Utilities Article, commencing on July 1, 2016and continuing until June 30, 2017, a fee of $0.25 shall be assessed for each trip generated by a Transportation Network Service company originating in the City of Annapolis.  This fee shall be set forth in the annual fees schedule and is subject to amendment.  Funds received from these assessments shall go into the transportation fund.

 

 

SECTION  II:   AND  BE  IT  FURTHER  ESTABLISHED  AND  ORDAINED  BY THE ANNAPOLIS CITY COUNCIL that this ordinance shall take effect from July 1, 2017.
