AN ORDINANCE concerning

Abandoned Vehicles

FOR the purpose of permitting an authorized agent of the City of Annapolis to exercise limited enforcement authority in the impoundment of abandoned vehicles; establishing a fine for leaving wrecked or nonoperatinginoperable vehicles on public property, streets and highways; and matters generally relating to the abandonment of vehicles.

BY repealing and re-enacting with amendments the following portions of the Code of the City of Annapolis, 2018 Edition
12.44.010
12.44.020
12.44.030

SECTION I: BE IT ESTABLISHED AND ORDAINED BY THE ANNAPOLIS CITY COUNCIL that the Code of the City of Annapolis shall be amended to read as follows:

TITLE 12 - VEHICLES AND TRAFFIC
Chapter 12.44 - ABANDONED VEHICLES

For enforcement purposes under this title, the Police Chief may delegate his authority to an authorized agent.

Section 12.44.010 - Definitions.

For the purposes of this chapter, the following words and phrases have the meanings indicated:

A. "Authorized agent" means the company or legal entity, and its employees, agents and contractors, that has been designated by the city in writing to perform any duties or responsibilities related to enforcement purposes under this title.

AB. "Property" means any real property which is not a street or highway.

BC. "Street or highway" means the entire width between the boundary lines of every way publicly maintained.
