A RESOLUTION concerning

 

City Sponsored Special Event - Elks Annual Pre-Labor Day Parade

 

FOR                     the purpose of identifying the “Elks Annual Pre-Labor Day Parade” held on September 2, 2018, as a City Sponsored Special Event; and waiving certain related City fees for that event.

 

WHEREAS,                     on September 2, 2018 the Ancient City Elks Lodge #175 sponsored the Elks Annual Pre-Labor Day Parade Special Event from Amos Garrett Blvd en route along West Street to Calvert Street in Annapolis, Maryland; and

 

WHEREAS,                     Section 14.18.020 of the City Code defines “City Sponsored Events” as “special events for which the City waives some or all fees or otherwise directly participates in the cost of the event”; and

 

WHEREAS,                     Section 14.18.110 of the City Code further states that “the City Council may exempt certain special events from fees by resolution”; and

 

WHEREAS,                     in 2019 and prior fiscal years the City has waived certain City fees for the Martin Luther King, Jr. Parade, the Memorial Day Parade, the Independence Day Parade, the USNA Band Concerts, the Kunta Kinte Festival, the Tug of War, the Grand Illumination, the Lights Parade, and the New Year’s Eve Celebration.

 

NOW THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE ANNAPOLIS CITY COUNCIL that the September 2, 2018 Elks Annual Pre-Labor Day Parade is designated a City Sponsored Special Event during Fiscal Year 2019 in recognition of its significance to our heritage and public service to our City.

 

AND, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE ANNAPOLIS CITY COUNCIL that there shall be a waiver of full fees for the September 2, 2018 Elks Annual Pre-Labor Day Parade, a City Sponsored Special Event.

 

AND, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE ANNAPOLIS CITY COUNCIL that this resolution shall take effect from the date of its passage.
