A RESOLUTION concerning

2018 St. Patrick's Day Parade -Waiver of Fees

FOR the purpose of identifying the St. Patrick's Day Parade Special Event that was held on March 11, 2018; and waiving certain related City fees for that event.

WHEREAS, on March 11, 2018, Naptown Events sponsored the 6th Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade Special Event in the Historic District of the City of Annapolis, Maryland; and

WHEREAS, the 2018 St. Patrick's Day Parade Special Event welcomed to Annapolis over 10,000 participants and attendees from different parts of the world and nationwide, bringing much needed commercial activity to the various businesses located within the City as well as tremendous enjoyment to its constituents and visitors; and

WHEREAS, the official beneficiary of the 2018 St. Patrick's Day Parade Special Event was "Warrior Events," which organization always benefits local charities; and

WHEREAS, Section 14.18.110 of the City Code states that "the City Council may exempt certain special events from fees by resolution"; and

WHEREAS, in 2019 and prior fiscal years the City has waived certain City fees for the Martin Luther King, Jr. Parade, the Memorial Day Parade, the Independence Day Parade, the USNA Band Concerts, the Kunta Kinte Festival, the Tug of War, the Grand Illumination, the Lights Parade, the New Year's Eve Celebration, and the Elks pre-Labor Day Parade.


NOW THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE ANNAPOLIS CITY COUNCIL that the 2018 St. Patrick's Day Parade is hereby designated as a Major Special Event in recognition of its significance to our heritage and public service to our City.
