A RESOLUTION concerning

 

2019 St. Patrick’s Day Parade -Waiver of Fees

 

FOR                     the purpose of identifying the St. Patrick’s Day Parade Special Event that will be held on March 10, 2019; and waiving certain related City fees for that event.

 

WHEREAS,                     on March 10, 2019, Naptown Events will sponsor the 7th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade Special Event in the Historic District of the City of Annapolis, Maryland; and

 

WHEREAS,                     the 2019 St. Patrick’s Day Parade Special Event is expected to welcome over 10,000 participants and attendees from different parts of the world and nationwide, bringing much needed commercial stimulus to the businesses located within the City as well as tremendous enjoyment to its constituents and visitors; and

 

WHEREAS,                     the 2019 St. Patrick’s Day Parade Special Event benefits local charities; and

 

WHEREAS,                     Section 14.18.110 of the City Code states that “the City Council may exempt certain special events from fees by resolution”; and

 

WHEREAS,                     in 2019 and prior fiscal years the City has waived certain City fees for the Martin Luther King, Jr. Parade, the Memorial Day Parade, the Independence Day Parade, the USNA Band Concerts, the Kunta Kinte Festival, the Tug of War, the Grand Illumination, the Lights Parade, the New Year’s Eve Celebration, and the Elks pre-Labor Day Parade.

 

 

NOW THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE ANNAPOLIS CITY COUNCIL that the 2019 St. Patrick’s Day Parade is hereby designated a Major Special Event in recognition of its significance to our heritage and public service to our City.

 

AND, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE ANNAPOLIS CITY COUNCIL that there shall be a waiver of full fees for the 2019 St. Patrick’s Day Parade Major Special Event.

 

AND, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE ANNAPOLIS CITY COUNCIL that this resolution shall take effect from the date of its passage.
