AN ORDINANCE concerning

Economic Development Division

FOR the purpose of relocating the Economic Development Division from the Department of Planning and Zoning to the Office of the Mayor; and generally related to Economic Development.

BY repealing and re-enacting with amendments the following portions of the Code of the City of Annapolis, 2019 Edition

2.46.020


SECTION I: BE IT ESTABLISHED AND ORDAINED BY THE ANNAPOLIS CITY COUNCIL that the Code of the City of Annapolis shall be amended to read as follows:

TITLE 2 - ADMINISTRATION
Chapter 2.46 - ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT DIVISION

Section 2.46.010 - Established.

The City shall have an Economic Development Division under the MAYOR. Department of Planning and Zoning.

Section 2.46.020 - Economic Development Program.

The Economic Development Division shall be responsible for implementing an Economic Development Program and, as a part of that program, the division shall:

1. Advocate for a review of policies, regulations, and laws and their implementation to encourage sound and balanced economic growth.
2. Provide for collaboration among those City agencies and departments that are vital to the success of the Economic Development Program.
3. Attract and encourage the retention of businesses, including small, minority, and/or disadvantaged enterprises.
4. Promote the creation and retention of jobs in the City.
5. Advocate for the expansion of the commercial and industrial tax base of the City.
