A RESOLUTION concerning

 

City Attorney - D. Michael Lyles

 

FOR                     the purpose of expressly confirming the appointment of D. Michael Lyles as City Attorney; consenting to compensate the City Attorney; and setting an effective date.

 

WHEREAS,                      the Annapolis City Code, Section 2.12.040.B provides that “[t]he City Attorney shall be appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council”; and

 

WHEREAS,                     the Annapolis City Code, Section 3.08.030.F.1(ii) provides that the appointment and initial salary for the City Attorney is subject to confirmation by the City Council; and

 

WHEREAS,                     the City Attorney position became vacant on March 8, 2019; and

 

WHEREAS,                     the education, training and experience of D. Michael Lyles exceeds the minimum qualifications required for the City Attorney position; and

 

WHEREAS,                     pursuant to the foregoing Annapolis Charter and City Code provisions, the City Council is required to expressly consent to the confirmation and compensation of the City Attorney.

 

NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE ANNAPOLIS CITY COUNCIL that the City Council expressly confirms the appointment of D. Michael Lyles to the position of City Attorney and consents to compensate D. Michael Lyles as City Attorney in the amount of $157,480 per annum commencing December 10, 2019.
