A RESOLUTION concerning

 

Robert H. Eades

 

FOR                     the purpose of remembering Robert H. Eades and his contributions to the community; and renaming the College Creek Park at Clay Street and College Creek in his honor.

 

WHEREAS,                     Robert H. Eades was born, raised, and lived his entire life in the City of Annapolis;

 

WHEREAS,                     he was born on August 14, 1956 and died on August 3, 2020 at the age of 63;

 

WHEREAS,                     he was an extraordinary father to his six children as evidenced by his being named “Father of the Year” by the First Baptist Church of Annapolis;

 

WHEREAS,                     after starting down the wrong path in life, he changed himself by pursuing his life goals through helping others;

 

WHEREAS,                     he spent most of his adult life being the proverbial conscience of the underprivileged community in Annapolis;

 

WHEREAS,                     he was known for always sticking up for the underdog;

 

WHEREAS,                     he became a business owner (Neet-N-Clean Taxi Co.) and was an eloquent advocate for the taxi cab industry in Annapolis;

 

WHEREAS,                     he was an outspoken advocate for the youth of our community, particularly the underprivileged-minority youth;

 

WHEREAS,                     he frequently arranged for young people to attend community and sporting events without cost to them while chaperoning them at a great cost to himself in terms of time and money;

 

WHEREAS,                     he delivered food to the needy and frequently advocated for them before the City Council and other groups;

 

WHEREAS,                     he did everything within his power to positively influence the youth and the underprivileged of our community;

 

WHEREAS,                     he had a respected presence in the Annapolis community, especially in the “Old Fourth Ward”;

 

WHEREAS,                     because of what he stood for and the example he set, it is altogether fitting and proper that he be honored for his positive contributions to our community;

 

WHEREAS,                     the City Council wishes to rename the College Creek Park at Clay Street and College Creek in recognition of Robert H. Eades; and

 

WHEREAS,                     in Robert’s favorite closing, “I CRY!”

 

NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE ANNAPOLIS CITY COUNCIL that we all come together tonight and recognize Robert H. Eades’ contributions to our community and dedicate ourselves to keeping his memory alive. 

 

AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE ANNAPOLIS CITY COUNCIL that the College Creek Park at Clay Street and College Creek shall henceforth be known as the “Robert H. Eades Park”.

 

AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE ANNAPOLIS CITY COUNCIL that the Robert H. Eades Park shall contain one Marker honoring Robert H. Eades’ community service.

 

AND, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE ANNAPOLIS CITY COUNCIL that the aforesaid Marker shall be commissioned by the Annapolis Heritage Commission and funded through donations.
