A RESOLUTION concerning
"Tucker Street Park"
FOR The purpose of designating certain City of Annapolis-owned property as a Mini-Park; naming the Mini-Park at the northeast end of Tucker Street the "Tucker Street Park"; and generally relating to park amenities.
WHEREAS, The City of Annapolis is working to create green space and Mini-Parks accessible to the general public commonly known as a "pocket park" and/or street end parks; and
WHEREAS, The Annapolis Comprehensive Plan of 2009, Chapter 6, states, "Recreation and open space make an essential contribution to a healthier population and greener city"; and
WHEREAS, The Plan policy recommends that "expansion of the parks system should be undertaken selectively and strategically, with the object of taking advantage of rare opportunities, providing parks and recreation services to underserved areas, allowing public access to the waterfront, and furthering environmental goals."
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE ANNAPOLIS CITY COUNCIL that the City-owned property located at the northeast end of Tucker Street, known as Tucker Street Boat Launch, between 317 Tucker Street and 415 Monterey Avenue, be designated a Mini-Park and named "Tucker Street Park."
AND, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE ANNAPOLIS CITY COUNCIL that benches be installed on the Mini-Park, a marker, and any other park amenities as approved by the City Council.
AND, BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED BY THE ANNAPOLIS CITY COUNCIL that such Mini-Park dedication shall take effect upon the passage of this Resolution.
