A RESOLUTION concerning
Updated Annapolis Transit Agency Safety Plan
FOR the purpose of updating the Annapolis Transit Agency Safety Plan; and generally dealing with Maryland Transit Administration requirements.
WHEREAS, the Annapolis Transit Agency Safety Plan covers all aspects of Annapolis Transit bus service, including fixed facilities, equipment including revenue and non-revenue vehicles, and vehicle operations and maintenance; and
WHEREAS, the Annapolis Transit Agency Safety Plan guides the integration of safety strategies for the Annapolis Transit bus service by ensuring that the planning, operation, and maintenance of the bus transit service meets or exceeds all safety requirements; and
WHEREAS, City Transportation Department staff updated the Annapolis Transit Agency Safety Plan in November 2022 to comply with new federal laws; and
WHEREAS, the Maryland Transit Administration requires locally operated transit systems in Maryland to update their Transit Safety Plan annually as part of the Annual Transportation Plan submittal; and
WHEREAS, City Council approval of the Annapolis Transit Agency Safety Plan is required before the updated plan may be submitted to the Maryland Transit Administration Office of Local Transit Support.
NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE ANNAPOLIS CITY COUNCIL that the November 2022 updated City of Annapolis Transit Agency Safety Plan attached hereto and incorporated herein is approved.
