A RESOLUTION concerning

Annapolis Classic Wooden Sailboat Race & Rendezvous - Docking Fee Waiver


FOR the purpose of waiving the fees for docking the Annapolis Classic Wooden Sailboat Race & Rendezvous at the Annapolis City Dock for September 8 through September 10, 2023.


WHEREAS, 2023 will be the 14th Classic Wooden Sailboat Race & Rendezvous in Annapolis, Maryland; and

WHEREAS, Wooden sailboats participate in the annual rendezvous at City Dock beginning the Friday of race weekend and then race through Annapolis Harbor on Sunday; and

WHEREAS, Eastport Yacht Club and the Chesapeake Traditional Sailboat Association host the pursuit-style race where the slowest boat starts first, drawing sailboats to Annapolis from across the world to participate; and

WHEREAS, The Annapolis Classic Wooden Sailboat Race & Rendezvous attracts sailing enthusiasts as well as visitors who want to see historic and beautiful classic wooden sailboats; and

WHEREAS, Charter boats from the Annapolis area will be offering cruises to view the wooden sailboats as they race; and

WHEREAS, The Rendezvous has reserved the entire Burtis Dock basin, from the North Face of Susan Campbell over to the dock adjacent to the Naval Academy; and

WHEREAS, The City of Annapolis, in recognition of the Annapolis Classic Wooden Sailboat Race & Rendezvous' mission to promote the history of the Chesapeake Bay and traditional sailing in the United States, and foster economic development and tourism, wishes to waive certain dock fees from 1 p.m. Friday, September 8, through Sunday, September 10, when boa...
