A RESOLUTION concerning

 

Annapolis All-Stars Youth Sports Program Fee Waiver

                     

FOR                     the purpose of waiving certain City of Annapolis fees for the Annapolis All-Stars II, Inc., a youth sports program.

 

WHEREAS,                     The Annapolis All-Stars is a youth sports program started in 1989 by Stanford and Shirley Womack; and

 

WHEREAS,                     The program began with two football teams in 1989 and grew to eight football teams, 13 basketball teams, six baseball teams and four cheerleading teams; and

 

WHEREAS,                     The All-Stars was disbanded in 2001 and restarted in 2022 under the current name, Annapolis All Stars II, Inc., to offer seasonal sports with the goal of teaching values of accountability, leadership, sportsmanship, work ethics in the classroom and on the playing fields; and

 

WHEREAS,                     Along with playing field sports, the young team members also hear from motivational speakers, meet professional athletes, go on field trips to local colleges; and

 

WHEREAS,                     The All-Stars athletic program currently has a T-ball and Coach pitch leagues for both boys and girls, which started in April, and plan to have tackle football, flag football and cheerleading in the Fall.

 

 

 

NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE ANNAPOLIS CITY COUNCIL that the City waives field rental fees at Truxtun Park on certain dates between July 18 and November 8, 2023, and at Bates Athletic Complex between July 10 and November 9, 2023, for an estimated total of $13,810.00 in fees waived.

 

AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE ANNAPOLIS CITY COUNCIL that this resolution shall take effect upon passage.
