AN ORDINANCE concerning

City of Annapolis Electrical Code Update

FOR the purpose of updating the City of Annapolis electrical code to current National Electric Code standards as published by the National Fire Protection Association, 2020 Edition, and the National Electrical Safety Code, 2023 Edition; and generally related to the city's electrical code.

BY repealing and reenacting with amendments the following portions of the Code of the City of Annapolis, 2023 Edition
17.16

SECTION I: BE IT ESTABLISHED AND ORDAINED BY THE ANNAPOLIS CITY COUNCIL that the Code of the City of Annapolis shall be amended to read as follows:

Title 17 - BUILDINGS AND CONSTRUCTION
Chapter 17.16 - Electrical Code

Section 17.16.010 - National Electrical Code adopted.
The National Electrical Code, 201120 Edition, published by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA #70), a copy of which is on file, is adopted as the Electrical Code of the City of Annapolis with the following amendments:
A. Insert the following new sections: Section 110.12(CD) Abandoned Cables. The accessible portions of abandoned cables, conduits, and raceways shall be removed.
B. Insert the following new sections:
300.3(E) No aluminum conductors or copperclad aluminum conductors smaller than number six A.W.G. shall be installed in any installations.
Strike section 310.3(A) Minimum Size of Conductors. The minimum size of conductors for voltage ratings up to and including 2000 volts shall be 14 ...
