A RESOLUTION concerning
2014 West Annapolis Sector Study
FOR the purpose of adopting the West Annapolis Sector Study as an addendum to the 2009 Annapolis Comprehensive Plan.
WHEREAS, The Maryland Annotated Code, Land Use Article, Title 3, requires municipalities to adopt comprehensive plans, which are to include policies, statements, goals, and interrelated plans for private and public land use, transportation, and community facilities, and which are to be documented in texts and maps that constitute the guide for future development; and
WHEREAS, the Annapolis City Council adopted successive comprehensive plans for the City in 1975, 1985, 1998, and 2009; and
WHEREAS, on October 5, 2009 the Annapolis City Council adopted the 2009 Annapolis Comprehensive Plan pursuant to R-32-09Amended, which is still in effect; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to the stated policy of the 2009 Annapolis Comprehensive Plan to study the West Annapolis Opportunity Area as it is a major gateway into Annapolis with good highway and transit accessibly to U.S. Route 50, MD Route 450, and downtown.
WHEREAS, the West Annapolis Sector Study Committee, conducted public forums, solicited input from stakeholders, and developed a Draft West Annapolis Sector Study;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE ANNAPOLIS CITY that the Draft West Annapolis Sector Study, attached to this Resolution, is also available online at:
<http://www.annapolis.gov/government/city-departments/planning-and-zoning/west-annapolis-sector-study> is hereby adopted; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE ANNAPOLIS CITY COUNCIL that the West Annapolis Sector Study be, and the same hereby, made part of the 2009 Annapolis Comprehensive Plan.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE ANNAPOLIS CITY COUNCIL that the adoption of the
West Annapolis Sector Study shall not be construed as an approval of individual projects that may be recommended therein, and that the Annapolis City Council reserves the right to consider, debate, oppose, support, or modify specific actions that may come before the Council and that are intended to implement specific elements of the Plan.
