A RESOLUTION concerning

 

Equal Protection Task Force - African-American Residents

 

FOR                      the purpose of approving a one year extension of time for the temporary advisory Task Force commissioned to provide the Mayor and City Council with a public forum for studying and preparing reports about the issues of African-American residents of the City of Annapolis to complete it mission.

 

WHEREAS,                     the City Council adopted R-24-18 on June 25, 2018, for the purpose of establishing a temporary advisory Task Force to study and prepare reports about the issues of African-American residents of the City of Annapolis; and

 

WHEREAS,                      R-24-18 expires on June 30, 2019, and the temporary advisory Task Force has yet to complete its study and reporting; and

 

WHEREAS,                     the City Council wishes to provide an additional year during which the advisory Task Force may address concerns and questions raised about the needs, circumstances, and issues of African-American residents in the City of Annapolis in each of the following areas: 1) transportation, 2) education, 3) communication, 4) economics and finances, 5) social and political concerns, 6) health care, 7) housing; and 8) city services and outreach.

 

NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE ANNAPOLIS CITY COUNCIL that a one year extension of time is approved for the advisory task force to address concerns and questions raised about the needs, circumstances, and issues of African-American residents in the City of Annapolis in each of the following areas: 1) transportation, 2) education, 3) communication, 4) economics and finances, 5) social and political concerns, 6) health care, 7) housing, and 8) city services and outreach, and that the term of the Task Force shall end June 30, 2020, unless the City Council takes further action to extend such term.

 

AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE ANNAPOLIS CITY COUNCIL that this resolution shall take effect from the date of its passage.
