AN UNCODIFIED ORDINANCE concerning

Extension of the Temporary Dissolution and Restructuring of the City of Annapolis Arts in Public Places Commission

 

FOR                     the purpose of extending the transition period established under Section 4 of Ordinance 4-26 for the temporary dissolution and restructuring of the Arts in Public Places Commission.

 

BY                     amending Section 4 of Ordinance 4-26, adopted February 23, 2026, concerning the Temporary Dissolution and Restructuring of the City of Annapolis Arts in Public Places Commission.

 

WHEREAS,                      The Annapolis City Council adopted Ordinance 4-26 (“O-4-26”) on February 23, 2026, temporarily dissolving the Arts in Public Places Commission (“AiPPC”) and transferring its duties to the Director of Planning and Zoning during a transition period; and

 

WHEREAS,                      Section 4 of O-4-26 provides that the transition period shall continue until the newly restructured AiPPC is established and operational, but in no event shall it exceed six months from the effective date of that ordinance; and

 

WHEREAS,                      Additional time is needed beyond the initial 6-month transition period; now, therefore

 

 

SECTION I: BE IT ESTABLISHED AND ORDAINED BY THE ANNAPOLIS CITY COUNCIL as follows:

 

1.                     The above recitals are hereby incorporated as if fully set forth herein.

 

2.                     Section 4 of O-4-26 shall be and is hereby amended as follows:

 

Section 4. Transition Period.

 

The transition period shall commence on the effective date of this ordinance and continue until the newly restructured City of Annapolis Arts in Public Places Commission is established and operational, but in no event shall it exceed September 30, 2026 six months from the effective date.

 

3.                     The remaining provisions of O-4-26 are hereby ratified and affirmed and shall remain effective except as amended by this ordinance.

 

SECTION II: AND BE IT FINALLY ESTABLISHED AND ORDAINED BY THE ANNAPOLIS CITY COUNCIL that this ordinance shall take effect upon passage.
