A RESOLUTION concerning

The Village at Providence Point Senior Care Development

FOR the purpose of showing Annapolis City Council support for the Village at Providence Point, a continuing care retirement community approved by the City and the State, but currently facing a legal challenge in the Appellate Court of Maryland.

WHEREAS, The Village at Providence Point is a Continuing Care Retirement Community planned by National Lutheran Communities & Services (NLCS), a nationally recognized developer of senior living communities; and

WHEREAS, NLCS is acquiring the 52-acre privately owned track of forested land where Forest Drive and Spa Road converge, with a total of 27 acres to be cleared to accommodate the 35 acre Planned development; and

WHEREAS, Katherine Properties has agreed to preserve approximately 124 acres of forested land into perpetuity through conservation and onsite reforestation; and

WHEREAS, The City of Annapolis has a growing senior population, which will require additional senior facilities to meet the needs of our residents, and the Village at Providence Point will not only meet these needs but also contribute to the local economy and provide job opportunities; and

WHEREAS, NLCS will offer an active lifestyle throughout the mix of independent living apartments and cottage residences, with memory care and skilled nursing services to support older adults; and
