AN ORDINANCE concerning

Oversight of the City’s Firing Range

FOR                     the purpose of allowing the Police Chief, along with the Mayor, to approve who uses the City’s police firing range located within the Annapolis Police Department.

BY                     repealing and reenacting with amendments the following portions of the Code of the City of Annapolis, 2026 Edition: 2.36.050

SECTION I:                     BE IT ESTABLISHED AND ORDAINED BY THE ANNAPOLIS CITY COUNCIL that the Code of the City of Annapolis shall be amended to read as follows:

City Code Title 2 - ADMINISTRATION
Chapter 2.36 - Police Department

 

Section 2.36.050 Police firing range.

The Police Department firing range located in the police headquarters shall be used solely by sworn employees of the Police Department unless express permission is given by the Mayor or Police Chief to another Police Department or any other responsible group completely trained in the use of firearms. A private guard force shall not be entitled to use such facilities under any circumstances.

 

SECTION II: AND BE IT FINALLY ESTABLISHED AND ORDAINED BY THE ANNAPOLIS CITY COUNCIL that this ordinance shall take effect upon passage.
