A RESOLUTION concerning

Scheduling Conflicts Between City Council Meetings and Committee, Board,
and Commission Meetings

FOR the purpose of eliminating conflicts when the City Council and its standing committees are scheduled to meet; and generally relating to meeting schedules of City committees, boards, and commissions.

WHEREAS, The City Council strives to ensure efficient and productive use of its time and the time of committee, board, and commission members; and

WHEREAS, Scheduling conflicts between City Council meetings and committee, board, and commission meetings can hinder participation and effective communication; and

WHEREAS, Maximizing public participation in both Council and committee, board, or commission meetings is essential;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE ANNAPOLIS CITY COUNCIL that:
1. City committees, boards, and commissions shall not schedule meetings on dates and times when the City Council has regularly scheduled:
a. regular meetings,
b. special meetings,
c. work sessions, and
d. standing committee meetings.
2. If scheduling conflicts are discovered, the committee, board, or commission meeting shall be rescheduled to avoid conflicts with City Council meetings.
AND BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED BY THE ANNAPOLIS CITY COUNCIL that this resolution shall take effect upon passage.
