AN ORDINANCE concerning

Management Information Technology office name change

FOR the purpose of changing the name of the City of Annapolis "Management Information Technology" (MIT) office to "Office of Integrated Technology Solutions" (OITS); and generally related to the Management Information Technology office.

BY repealing and reenacting with amendments the following portions of the Code of the City of Annapolis, 2023 Edition:

SECTION I: BE IT ESTABLISHED AND ORDAINED BY THE ANNAPOLIS CITY COUNCIL that the Code of the City of Annapolis shall be amended to read as follows:

WHEREAS, The City of Annapolis Management Information Technology (MIT) office began as part of the Finance Department when only managerial staff were provided with computers; and

WHEREAS, MIT is now under the City Manager's Office and provides city employees with some sort of city technology, which may include desktop computers, laptop computers, phones, radios, etc.; and

WHEREAS, MIT duties include: technical support for various City business and operating units, maintaining central processing and network hardware security operating systems and data communications systems, providing Internet, email services, telephone and video services, operating the City PEG TV channels, managing the city Internet and Intranet website, and providing city-wide coordination of Geographical Information Systems (GIS) services and databases.
