A RESOLUTION concerning
City Manager Recruitment
FOR the purpose of expressing the sense of the City Council to utilize the services of an executive search firm or executive search consultant to assist with a nationwide search for candidates and recruitment for the position of City Manager.

WHEREAS, the City Manager is the top appointed executive in the City with responsibility for managing the entire City staff and coordinating policy decisions with the Mayor and Alderpersons; and

WHEREAS, the right candidate for the City Manager position will help provide guidance to achieve the best possible path for City government and all of its citizens; and

WHEREAS, one of the most critical pieces in the recruitment process is to ensure that the person hired and retained to be the City Manager is the most qualified and best fit for our community as possible; and

WHEREAS, the City Manager position is confirmed by the City Council and it is appropriate for the City Council to make recommendations in the recruitment process; and

WHEREAS, utilizing an executive search firm or executive search consultant offers the highest likelihood of finding candidates that are compatible with our community's needs and in the most expeditious manner.
