A RESOLUTION concerning

Annual Meeting and Tourism Industry Reception Fee Waiver

FOR the purpose of identifying the Annual Meeting and Tourism Industry Reception that will be held on January 28, 2025, as a Special Event and waiving certain City of Annapolis fees for services related to that event.

WHEREAS, Section 14.18.110 of the City Code states that "the City Council may exempt certain special events from fees by resolution"; and

WHEREAS, The Annual Meeting and Tourism Industry Reception will take place on January 28, 2025, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the circular parking lot behind the Visit Annapolis building; and

WHEREAS, Tourism in 2023 topped 45.1 million visitors statewide, according to the Maryland Office of Tourism; and

WHEREAS, Tourism attracts more than 6.8 million visitors to Annapolis and Anne Arundel County and generates $4.1 billion in visitor spending, providing $455 million in state and local taxes and employing 26,000 visitor-supported jobs, which represents 10% of all jobs in Anne Arundel County.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE ANNAPOLIS CITY COUNCIL that:
1. The Annual Meeting and Tourism Industry Reception hosted by Visit Annapolis & Anne Arundel County that will be held on January 28, 2025, is hereby designated a Special Event to recognize its significance to tourism in our City.
